Jonathan cuts short AU engagement to visit Emab bomb site



President Goodluck Jonathan, on Friday, visited Emab Plaza in central Abuja where a bomb blast killed at least 21 people on Wednesday - with the attack blamed on Boko Haram.

Jonathan, who reportedly cut short an African Union engagement to meet victims, later went to a hospital where victims were being treated.

As the Super Eagles of Nigeria face a highly spirited France side in the World Cup round of 16, coach Stephen Keshi believes his side should not be regarded as underdogs - as all teams are good.

France top talisman, Karim Benzema, has been touted as the portent striker that would cause trouble for the Super Eagles who rattled Argentina before going down 3 -2.

Six dead in ghastly motor accident along Lagos-Ibadan expressway

A ghastly motor accident occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, on Friday morning - leaving at least 6 individuals dead and several others injured.

According to eye witnesses present at the scene, the accident was caused by a collision between a moving truck and a faulty truck, parked on the expressway. Vehicles involved in the accident were seriously damaged.

One of the vehicles involved was a “mini-truck carrying labour hands who were going to a building site”. A female survivor rushed to a hospital near 7up, and then to the Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos for further treatment.

Luis Suárez suspended for nine matches and banned for four months

FIFA has banned Luis Suárez from all “football-related activities” for four months - after the Liverpool striker bit Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup group stage play offs between the Azzurris and Uruguay.

This biting incident, the third in which Suárez has been involved, has led Fifa’s disciplinary committee to prevent the player from entering any football stadium during the ban.
