David Cameron: Islamic extremists, like fascists, must not be tolerated at any level

British Prime Minister, David Cameron, has clearly pointed that Islamic extremism, like fascism, will not be tolerated in the United Kingdom - as he did stress that defeating Islamic extremism in Britain is as vital as dealing with the economy.

The Prime Minister strongly backed the views of Michael Gove, the education secretary, who said that the  Government must win the argument with those who want tolerate all but the most violent extremists.

Mr Gove has criticised the Home Office for failing to do enough to deal with the roots of extremism. Mr Gove said the Government should "drain the swamp" of extremism instead of "beating back the crocodiles" of terror down the line. Whilst comparing Islamic extremists to fascists, Mr Cameron said: "There were those on the last government and before that who seemed to think it was ok to tolerate extremist language, extremist rhetoric, extremist mindsets as long as you never tolerated violent extremism," Cameron told the Westminster reception.

"It's almost like saying it's ok with the BNP, it's only Combat 18 (a neo-Nazi organisation) you have to worry about.

"We don't accept fascists in this country so we shouldn't accept that argument when it comes to Islamic extremism in our country.

"And I think it's absolutely vital that we make this argument and win this argument as comprehensively as we have over the economy."

Mr Gove apologised to the prime minister after a bitter battle with his brilliant home secretary, Ms Theresa May, over allegations of a hard line Muslim plot in some Birmingham schools became public.
