‘First Half’ German Lessons Every Employee Should Learn

Their game started 16 years ago when they faced a Croatian side. They lost! An added four years pitched them in the finals against Brazil and the German side went down with only two missiles. The Italians gave additional two knocks after four more years. The Germans were undeterred. They came back again, this time in Africa and Spain sent them packing with just a single goal! Today, after another four good years, they are still fighting and you’ll agree with that the 7 -1 victory against Brazil is a good indication that this time they’re determined to win and lift the trophy in days to come. But there are several ‘First Half’ lessons employees have to learn from this Game of Thrones (as I’d like to call it). Continue...

German 1: Winners are losers who kept fighting
At every point in the world cup for 16 years, the Germans had always come near to the trophy and this time, they are near again.  Against Brazil years ago, they lost, this year, they’ve struck the right chord and they are onto the cup for grabs with just one obstacle remaining.
You may not be finding it easy at work. Possibly the designs are not fit yet, your boos is a pain in the ass, those clients are putting forth crazy counter-proposals? Keep fighting, one day, you’ll strike the right chord; one day, you’ll WIN

German 2: Show no respect for challenges
You’ve got a hit? Take it! Hit those challenges so hard that years to come the surgeons of history will always consult records to know how you did it and replicate your success even after you are no longer in the organizational picture.
The Germans showed no respect for the host country, they kept scoring to the extent that they drew tears from the Brazilian fans. It was a chance to make history and they took a hard hit at it.

German 3: Have a mental picture of your goals!
Before the Germany, Brazil game, Former German superstar Lothar Matthaus, speaking to FIFA.com said:
“There’s room for improvement up front but they all want the same thing, and that's the title.”
A picture of the famous Maracana stadium in Rio De Janeiro, where the final match will take place next Sunday is in the German Football Federation building for all to see. They have a mental picture of where they are going.
With a vivid mental picture of what you want and have to do, your daily goals as an employee is easily achieved in and out of the work place and you’ll know exactly where you’re headed

German 4: Strike early when opportunity surfaces
No doubt the early goals before 29 minutes of the game were a morale killer, a destabiliser to the Brazilian team. Those early knocks were definitely non-repayable! Strike early, shine early! Close that deal early! Even when in an interview, show your stuff early, make decisions early etc. Never be late. An early coordinated attack shows you further loop hole to defeating and completing your tasks at hand.

German 5: Partnership and teamwork wins the game
Müller, Klose, Kroos (2), Schürrle (2), and Khedira; 5 players making the score sheet is definitely a team work game. All players saw themselves as relevant to a win. If you must win in your career as an employee, you must cultivate the spirit of team work and partnership within the office and work space. You must know that working diligently and cooperatively is necessary for the company’s success and yours too. In the word of Earl Nightingale,

“The biggest mistake that you can make is to believe that you are working for somebody else. Job security is gone. The driving force of a career must come from the individual. Remember: Jobs are owned by the company, you own your career!”

Have a great weekend ahead and keep winning, you deserve it!
