Clarence Seedorf defends Milan's poor run

AC Milan's head coach, Clarence Seedorf, has defended the poor form and outings of his team, claiming that the former manager Massimiliano Allegri's reign remains the cause of the consecutive failures.

The former Netherlands international was appointed manager of the Italian giants in January; but his emergence was rather late, as he met Milan down placed on the Serie A table.

Seedorf, who left Milan to join Botafogo as a player in 2012, has been heavily criticized by fans; but the 37-year-old Dutch manager had this to say:
"For the past two years Milan have been chasing down the others and psychologically it was tough," he told reporters on Saturday.

"When I got here, I did not find a team in good physical or psychological shape. We can’t think everything will improve straight away.

"The players are improving, but results have not been consistent, so that is what we are looking for now. We have to turn the page, target European qualification and focus only on what happens on the field.

"There is nobody guilty here, as we are all working to get the best for Milan. With CEO Adriano Galliani we’ll do everything in future to make the Milan fans proud of us. It’s a difficult situation right now, as we are lacking confidence."

Milan's fans do not trust the ability of Seedorf, and this could be as a result of the fact that the inexperienced coach left as a player just two years ago.
